Cost, insurance, timelines, what we do, what we don't do. Where our answer is still "it depends," we say that instead of making something up. Anything we can't answer in writing yet is marked — Nitro answers those on camera, in their own words.
Not always. If water sat briefly on a hard sealed surface and you got it up, watch it for a week. If it got under flooring, into drywall or carpet pad, sat more than 24–48 hours, came from a sewage line, or you're filing a claim — get it looked at. The full breakdown is on the do I need restoration page.
Yes, and we do it regularly. We'd rather be the company you call next time than the one that sold you on services you didn't need.
Yes. Free, on site, no obligation, no claim number required.
The plumber stopped the water. What's left is everything the water got into — subfloor, wall cavity, insulation, cabinet bases. Those don't dry on their own, and that's what turns into mold or a warped floor a month later.
It depends on the size of the loss, and it can be fairly expensive. A water job usually has two or three parts: the emergency mitigation (dry-out and tear-out), which often runs several thousand dollars on its own; the reconstruction that puts everything back together; and sometimes contents pack-out. Added together on an insurance claim, we typically see anywhere from about $10,000 up to $100,000 depending on the damage. The inspection that tells you what you're actually dealing with is free.
Yes, for covered losses, and we provide the readings, photos and scope carriers ask for. We have no carrier affiliations — nobody is telling us what to find.
Call us early. Policies have time limits for reporting a loss, and claims get denied when too much time goes by with no steps taken to stop the damage. Our free inspection shows you what's actually wet and whether it's worth a claim. And if you do file, you choose the contractor. You're under no obligation to use the insurance company's preferred vendor.
That's your call and it doesn't change the assessment. Plenty of people pay out of pocket because the deductible math doesn't work in their favor. We'll scope it either way.
It depends on the policy and the cause of the water. Sudden accidental losses are treated very differently from long-term seepage. Your adjuster decides — we document accurately regardless.
No. As the policyholder you can choose any contractor you want. Preferred vendors aren't all bad, but when you hire us, we represent you, not the insurance company. If something needs to be requested from the carrier on your behalf, we're not shy about asking.
Yes, and it's the number one thing we wish people knew. Wait too long and the carrier can deny the claim as pre-existing damage, lack of maintenance, or no steps taken to prevent further damage. As the policyholder you have an obligation to mitigate. When in doubt, have it looked at early.
If you can, shut the water off to the house. Many policies require the home to be checked on if you're gone longer than 14 days, so have someone walk inside and look for leaks. We've seen claims denied after a summer away with nobody checking. Check your own policy for its exact terms.
Generally, when wind is the cause. If high winds from a tornado, microburst or hurricane break a window or pull off roofing and rain gets in, that's typically covered. Water coming through a worn-out roof with no wind damage is much harder to get covered. Rising groundwater from outside the house usually isn't covered without separate flood insurance. A pipe that breaks inside the house usually is. Your policy and adjuster make the final call.
Not always. The right public adjuster is a great tool, especially if you hit an impasse with your insurance company, there's a coverage issue, or you just want to be represented. Some small claims need one and some big ones don't. We can look at your loss and help you decide.
Not for an emergency dry-out on an insurance claim. We get your claim started and bill your insurance company directly. It often takes weeks or months for us to get paid. We'll be long done, and you'll be happy, before that happens.
Yes. If you only want us for the dry-out and you'll handle the construction yourself or with your own contractor, that's perfectly fine. For specialty trades we bring in the best subcontractors available.
Mitigation is the emergency steps you take to stop further damage: moving furniture out of the wet area, pulling back carpet and wet pad, cutting drywall to get saturated insulation away from the framing so it doesn't mold. Restoration is the whole process. It includes mitigation plus putting the house back together: drywall, paint, carpet, back to its original condition.
Often there aren't any at first. Drywall can feel dry to the touch and read 99% saturated on our meters. Wood floors can soak up water and look normal for days or weeks before the glue lets go or the boards swell. We use thermal imaging and moisture equipment that reads through thick wood floors to show exactly what's wet.
For something very small, maybe. For anything else, call us. The inspection is free. Sometimes our meters confirm everything is dry and nothing needs to be done, and we tell you that. Other times a "small leak" ran under the bottom plate of the wall into three or four rooms the homeowner didn't know about. Water that just sits there is how microbial growth starts.
Yes. If we don't find any evidence of damage, we'll tell you. If it's minor, we'll often give you a do-it-yourself fix. No pressure, no hassle.
Phones are answered 24/7, 365 days a year. Our goal is to be on site within 2 hours of your call anywhere in the Tulsa metro, and sometimes we're there in 30 minutes. Farther out it depends on distance, and we'll give you an honest arrival time when you call.
It completely depends on the situation, but 4 to 7 days on average.
It takes the same amount of time as drying a house. The equipment is what does the drying after wet materials have been removed, so around 4 to 7 days.
Yes. Phones are answered 24/7, and nights and weekends run the same way as a weekday call.
Water damage restoration and cleanup, fire damage restoration and cleanup, mold remediation, storm damage, contents pack-out, reconstruction and rebuild, and insurance billing. When asbestos or lead are present, we work with certified professionals. Residential and commercial.
Yes. Once the fire has been put out, we remove burnt materials that can't be saved, clean soot from salvageable surfaces, address remaining smoke odors, and dry water left from firefighting efforts. More on the fire damage page.
We don't do the testing ourselves. If further investigation or independent mold testing is needed, we'll go over those options with you.
Pack-out and rebuild run through crews we work with regularly, so you have one point of contact instead of chasing three vendors after a loss.
Case by case depending on scope. Call and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a job we should take or one that needs a specialty crew.

Most of the time, yes. It's your call. The fans and dehumidifiers are loud, and it comes down to how much noise you don't mind. On an insurance claim, if the house loses a place to sleep, a usable bathroom or a working kitchen, insurance generally starts the process of putting you up elsewhere, from a hotel for a few nights to longer-term housing on bigger jobs.
Stay safe, and don't wait. A lot of people towel it up, think they got it all, and find out weeks later that water got under the wood floor or into the wall. If it might be an insurance claim, take photos before you move or throw anything away, and call us for the free inspection. Our thermal camera and moisture meters show what's wet that you can't see or feel.
